Hello, my name is Cathie Gelmi. My husband and I currently live in Fort Worth, Texas; however, we are in the process of purchasing some land in the Marble City area. I check the Sequoyah County Times on-line everyday and was very disturbed to read about this proposed mine.
I am not sure where Sequoyah Little Farms is located, but in looking at the map it appears that the proposed site is nearby to the land that we are buying.
If possible, I would like to be kept informed about the status of this "mess". I am a former employee of the Sequoyah Fuels plant in Gore, OK so I know all too well about the detrimental effects of an operation such as this. It was almost comical when I read the comment saying, "We go strictly by the mining laws. We are controlled. We can't do anything illegal." As I just mentioned, I worked at Sequoyah Fuels, which was under the oversight of the FEDERAL government - and we know what happened there....
